Professional Biography:

Dr Ajay K. Singh is the Senior Associate Dean for Master’s Academic Affairs in the Office of Graduate Education at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as a renal physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr Singh received his medical degree from University College London School of Medicine in the United Kingdom. In 1987, he relocated to Boston to pursue a clinical and research fellowship in nephrology at Tufts-New England Medical Center, completing his training in 1992. He joined the Tufts University faculty before moving to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 1998, where he was appointed Clinical Director of the Renal Division, Director of Dialysis Services, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

From 2008, Dr Singh served as Chief Academic Officer and Executive Director of the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR), strengthening global collaborations in biomedical science and education. His academic and clinical research has primarily focused on the anemia of chronic kidney disease. He has led and contributed to numerous landmark studies in the field, including the CHOIR trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine, and has played key roles in the TREAT and DRIVE trials. He currently leads the ASCEND clinical development program for daprodustat, a novel prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor in phase 3 trials.

In addition to his research and clinical responsibilities, Dr Singh is a highly regarded medical educator. He directs the Office of Postgraduate Medical Education at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and leads several Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses for Harvard Medical School. He is Chair of the Editorial Board for Nephrology Times and formerly served as Editor-in-Chief of Scientific American Medicine.

Dr Singh is the author of more than 160 peer-reviewed publications and review articles and has authored or edited 11 textbooks in internal medicine and nephrology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and holds an MBA from Boston University. He was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (Dr.H.C) for his contributions to medical science and education.
